In 1987, a group of Colorado entrepreneurs opened their first car wash and detail center in Aurora. Building on this early success, they formed a new partnership five years later to acquire a former car wash on South Colorado Boulevard, then located in a semi-dilapidated area of Denver.

After a complete rebuild and renovation, the car wash reopened in 1993 as Bear’s Car Wash. In 1998, to better leverage the growing business opportunities, the partnerships brought in a new management team and rebranded the locations. Today, Finish Line Car Wash & Detail Centers continue to thrive, serving customers in both Denver and Aurora.

At Finish Line Car Wash & Detail Centers, we are dedicated to protecting the natural environment while fulfilling our mission of providing exceptional vehicle care. We demonstrate this commitment by implementing practices and using equipment that reduce pollution and conserve natural resources. Some examples of our recent sustainability initiatives include:

High-Efficiency, Energy-Conserving Motors – We have installed Super-E motors that, while 20% more expensive upfront, offer a longer service life, reducing the need for replacements and conserving resources. They also consume less energy throughout their lifespan, making our operations more efficient.

Reduced Energy Usage for Vehicle Washes – Through significant investment in advanced power management systems, our facilities now operate more efficiently. For instance, our vacuums and vehicle dryers now require only one-third to two-thirds of the amperage previously needed to start the motors.

Water Conservation – By incorporating state-of-the-art water reclamation technologies, we save over 110 gallons of water per vehicle washed, including water used for restrooms, coffee service, and other operations. On average, we use just 29 gallons of fresh water per wash, compared to the 140 gallons typically used in at-home washes or car washes without reclamation systems. In recognition of our efforts, Denver Water certified the Denver Finish Line Car Wash & Detail Center as the first “Efficient Water User” car wash in Colorado.
